VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTON

POSITION Development/Fundraising Associate
SUPERVISION Development/Fundraising Associates are supervised by the Director of Development and selected development staff department, in a team environment.
TASK Development/Fundraising Associates will assist in a variety of existing HBSPCA fund raising activities, as well as plan and present new events in conjunction with the development team.
QUALIFICATIONS Development Associates should be creative, energetic and reliable, and able to accept responsibility for a project from start to finish. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.
SCREENING All volunteers must complete the HBSPCA application, orientation and training process and provide at least two personal references and a police clearance check.
HOURS OF WORK Fund raising and special events can occur at various times, including weekends and early evenings. A significant time commitment on the part of the volunteer is required.
EVALUATION After each six months of service and on an ongoing informal basis.

DEVELOPMENT/FUNDRAISING ASSOCIATE

GENERAL DUTIES

Program development and fundraising are a growing and vitally important part of our work in the support of the entire Hamilton Burlington SPCA program. Our development and fundraising volunteers must possess a strong sense of commitment and responsibility.

  • Assist in the planning and presentation of various existing HBSPCA fundraising and other special events
  • Plan and present new events in conjunction with the Development Team
  • Volunteers must be results oriented, creative and enthusiastic
  • Excellent communication skills, firm committment, diplomacy and tact are prerequisites to the successful completion of this role
  • Experience as a program coordinator and/or fund raiser is preferred
  • Educational experience in a related fundraising or development college or university program would be an asset
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and also perform tasks independently and with minimal supervision is required
  • Ability to act as a project coordinator would be an asset
  • Familiarity with Microsoft word and Excel is preferred
  • Tasks and activities may include telephone campaigning, corporate sponsorship, data entry, planning and managing events, soliciting monthly donors and participating in ongoing fund raising activities, possibly in a supervisory role
  • Reliability and dependability are absolute musts in this role
